3 Things That Can Help Make Living with a Chronic Pain Condition Easier

Posted on May 20, 2020September 30, 2021 By Deepak

If you suffer from a chronic pain condition, then you will know how much it can affect every aspect of your life. The simplest of tasks can feel overwhelming, and things that used to be second nature can seem near impossible to achieve. For many, it isn’t just the physical pain that can cause issues, ‘brain fog’ can also take place, which makes it hard to concentrate and can affect the memory. Here are 3 things that can help make living with a chronic pain condition easier.

A comfortable bed

A good night’s sleep might be a distant memory if you are in regular pain, and trying to find a comfortable sleeping position can seem like a mammoth task. If your mattress is old, then it’s a good idea to get a new one that supports your body in the right places and has the appropriate level of firmness. If you aren’t sure which mattress would suit you best, visit a bed store and try them out.

Full body length pillows are also very popular for those suffering from constant pain. They provide an additional level of cushioning and help to support your arms and legs if they are particularly painful.

Keep anxiety and stress to a minimum

Stress and anxiety are known to make chronic pain worse in some cases, so it’s a good idea to try and keep these to a minimum where possible. One approach to doing this is by using CBD oil. CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid compound that is extracted from various parts of hemp plants. The use of CBD oil is becoming extremely popular and is known to help ease pain and reduce anxiety and stress levels. This is due to the natural boost that it provides to the endocannabinoid system we all have in our bodies. Another option is to look into terpenes, such as the pineapple express terpene from Finest Labs (what is a pineapple express?), to use to lift your mood. This strain in particular is great for dissolving mental strain, caused by emotions such as stress.

There are many different strains of CBD available, so it’s wise to do some research and read more about the best oils for anxiety and stress before making a purchase. Many doctors are now prescribing CBD, so it might also be a good idea to find out if it’s an available option in your area.

Communicate

Whilst you may be tempted to deal with this all on your own, it’s important where possible to communicate with your family and friends about how you are feeling. This is not only important for your mental health but will make it easier for your loved ones to help you where they can.

If you don’t feel that you can talk to those close to you, have a look in your area for local support groups. Social media groups are also fairly common, and you might find that being able to talk to people that can relate to what you are going through makes things far more bearable. Coping with it alone might seem like the courageous thing to do, but in the long run, it could make the situation even worse.
